Choosing your favorite fabric can be hard and that's why we're here to help.

Fatboy uses natural and synthetic fabrics. 

The natural fabrics are made of 100% natural yarns, like the stonewashed fabrics or our Pop of Color cotton collection. Generally, natural fabrics are not made for outdoor use as they are sensitive to UV radiation, (salty or chlorinated) water, and bleach. Top-quality outdoor materials must be stainproof, waterproof, and UV and mold-resistant. That's why our outdoor products are produced from materials made of 100% synthetic yarns and fibers. All these materials are weatherproof and can be used outdoors all year round.

So what distinguishes one fabric from another? To explain, we've made a list of the main properties of all the different fibers.

Olefin is a synthetic material made of polypropylene fibers. The fibers are dyed with a special solution during the production process, making the fabric colorfast. The solution also contains UV blockers to make them UV-resistant. Olefin fibers can be recycled into new products many times and its strength makes it hugely wear-resistant. Olefin is waterproof and mold-resistant. Don't worry if you spill some sunscreen - olefin is easy to clean (even with bleach).

Acrylic is a synthetic woven material made of acrylic fibers that are dyed to the core. This makes this type of textile fully UV-resistant and colorfast. After the dying process, the fibers are coated with an agent that also makes them stainproof. The fabric is highly water- and mold-resistant. Acrylic is also easy to clean - you can even remove the worst stains with some bleach.

Polyester is a synthetic material and Fatboy only uses a robust and premium fabric. It doesn't crease and is easy to clean. The material also gets a special finish to make it water resistant and stainproof, and even more suitable for outdoor use. This type of fabric is highly UV-resistant and colorfast.

Fatboy has been using nylon for its bean bag The Original for many years. Nylon is a strong synthetic material. It is wear-resistant, colorfast, and a special treatment makes it water resistant and stainproof. Nylon is easy to clean with some soap and water.

We often use cotton fabrics for our indoor furniture items. A special finish is used to make them water resistant and stainproof so they are easy to clean. This natural fabric is wear-resistant, highly resistant to artificial and natural light, and reasonable UV-resistant. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause some fading of colors.

Our velvet fabric is soft and shiny and made of synthetic polyester for indoor use. Velvet is exceptionally strong and keeps its wonderful look for many years, making it perfect for intensive indoor use. The change of color you see when you rub the fabric is one of its beautiful characteristics. Velvet also doesn't pill or lint and the recycled version is even more sustainable. Velvet is easy to clean and maintain. A vacuum cleaner will do the trick with normal use. Stains can be removed with a damp cloth.

Our teddy fabric is made of synthetic polyester and feels wonderfully thick, warm and super soft. Teddy gives a plush look and feel that lasts for many years, making it very suitable for intensive indoor use. The fabric also doesn't pill and lint. Stains can be removed with a damp cloth.

Our Sherpa fabric is made of polyester. The fabric feels super soft and has a shearling-look texture. Sherpa is a strong fabric that remains beautiful for years and is suitable for intensive home use. The fabric is resistant to pills and fluff. With a damp cloth you can remove any stains, but the cover can also be washed in the washing machine (at up to 40° C).

Our Weave fabric is made of 82% polyester and 18% acrylic. Thanks to FibreGuard technology, the fabric is stain resistant. If you do have a huge spill, the fabric is easy to clean or wash in the washing machine (at up to 40°C). This sturdy fabric will remain beautiful for years and is suitable for intensive residential use.

This durable, woven, bouclé fabric is chic, casual and super strong. Our Mingle fabric is made of polyester yarn in different shades and characterized by the curly, knotted appearance created by the open weave.

This durable fabric is hardwearing and will remain beautiful for years to come. Thanks to the applied FibreGuard technology, products made with Mingle are stain resistant. If you do have a major spill, the fabric is easy to clean or wash in the washing machine (up to 30° C).

Recycled Cord fabric is a soft fabric made from 100% post-consumer polyester (100% rPET). This sturdy, ribbed fabric is suitable for intensive, indoor, residential use. The fabric does not fuzz or pill and is extremely durable.
