The best way to clean your Toni products is with warm water, a mild, liquid soap and a soft sponge. Whatever you do, don’t use any aggressive or abrasive cleaning products, brushes or sponges.
Important! Rinse your Toni products thoroughly with plenty of water to remove any remaining soap, and leave the furniture to dry completely.
Remove stains from bird droppings as quickly as possible from your Toni products. Bird poop contains acids that can erode the coating’s top layer.
Follow these tips to help your Toni products last as long as possible.
- Clean regularly with a soft cloth
Clean your Toni products regularly with a soft cloth to ensure dirt doesn’t stick to the coating.
- That potted plant looks great, but...
Please note! Don’t leave items such as a potted plants in the same place for too long, because that will cause stains.
- Bird gifts
It is best to remove bird droppings as quickly as possible. The coating works really well against the elements, but the acids in bird poop can eat away at the coating.
- No cover!
Please note: powder-coated aluminium outdoor furniture doesn’t do well under a cover. In fact, keeping your furniture under a cover may damage the coating. Would you like to store your Toni product for longer periods, such as during the winter? The best way to optimise your product’s lifespan is to store it somewhere, like in the garage. You can unscrew the table legs and stack the chairs to take up as little space as possible. Don’t have room? You can also leave your Toni products outside (without a cover).
- Thorough cleaning
Clean your Toni products thoroughly at least twice a year with plenty of water and a mild, liquid soap. This repels dirt and reduces wear and tear on the coating. Find out how to do this here.
- Freshen up your coating
Use a standard (non-abrasive) car wax product to provide your Toni products with an extra protective layer. Read the car wax instructions carefully before use.

About the designer
Toní is developed in collaboration with Erik Stehmann, who started his design studio in 2009 in Arnhem (NL). Since then he has been researching his rapidly changing fascinations on a daily basis, looking for new possibilities and applications of basic techniques and materials. Whether it starts with a weird sentence, or a frustration about how ugly some products are, it always ends in an innovative project or product that is meant to make the world a little more fun. “I like that Toní is both new and recognizable. I see the chair as a friendly cartoon character. I would like to have dinner with him.”
